John Erickson

President & CEO

John is an experienced global healthcare and life sciences executive with CEO and board-level expertise across Fortune 50 corporations, private equity ventures, and start-ups. His broad experiential portfolio, business acumen and global perspective includes strategy development and execution, capital funding, and global commercial deployment utilizing both direct and distribution models. He has led organizational design and cultural change management, and sales force deployment and re-engineering.

Additionally, John has expansive Point of Care (POC)/Need testing experience, successful joint venture management, corporate partnerships, product licensing agreements, as well as intellectual property strategy, emerging markets, data management and digital health expertise. John holds degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and a Master of Science in Business Management as well as additional graduate level courses in Biochemistry, Toxicology & Endocrinology. In addition, John is trained in Six Sigma & Lean Thinking, ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and cGMP Compliance.

Bob Morrison

Bob has been involved in all phases of technology business development. He has a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University and has spent the majority of his career in administrative, marketing, and entrepreneurial roles in the electronics and software industries. He was a co-founder of Sunquest Information Systems, which became the world's largest developer of hospital laboratory information automation products with annual sales in excess of $350 million.

Bob was also the Executive Director of the Desert Angels in Tucson, AZ, where he served for 10 years helping to grow its investment portfolio to over $30 million in more than 65 companies. He has taught for many years in the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management's McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship, and has also taught at the University of Maryland's Perdue School of Business on its Salisbury campus. Among Bob's many professional activities are:

Cary Marmis

Cary Marmis is a prominent real estate developer, former military pilot, and philanthropist based in Tucson, Arizona. Cary holds a degree in Biology from the University of Illinois and a graduate degree in Physiology from the University of Michigan.

Cary's business and philanthropy experience has been broad and successful, alongside an exceptional career in aviation:

  • Real Estate & Development — As the founder and former CEO of Empire West Companies, he spent decades developing commercial and residential properties across the Western U.S., including thousands of apartment units, shopping centers, and custom homes. In Tucson, he is particularly known for building the prominent Campbell Cliffs estate in the Catalina Foothills.
  • Military & Volunteer Flying — A former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, he has continued flying in civilian life, volunteering his time and aircraft for non-profit organizations like Angel Flight West and Veterans Airlift Command to fly patients and veterans for medical treatment.
  • Community Leadership & Philanthropy — He has served on numerous local and regional boards, including the Pima Air & Space Museum, DM-50 (supporting Davis-Monthan Air Force Base), the Arizona Theatre Company, and local community and charitable foundations.

Professor Yoon developed the technology for the RapidBio Systems bacterial pathogen detection system.

Jeong-Yeol Yoon received his BS, MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul (South Korea) in 1992, 1994 and 1999, respectively, under the guidance of Woo-Sik Kim, in collaboration with Jung-Hyun Kim, where he worked primarily on polymer colloids. He received his second PhD degree in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2004, working on lab-on-a-chip and biomaterials, under the guidance of Robin L. Garrell.

He joined the Department of Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering faculty in August 2004 and holds a joint appointment in the School of Animal & Comparative Biomedical Sciences, Department of Biomedical Engineering and BIO5 Institute at The University of Arizona, where he currently directs the Biosensors Lab. Dr. Yoon is a member of IBE, ASABE and SPIE, and was Councilor-at-Large for IBE for the 2010 and 2011 calendar years. He was elected president-elect of IBE in 2014, served as president in 2015, and as immediate past president in 2016. He currently serves as editor-in-chief for the Journal of Biological Engineering (IBE) and as an associate editor and editorial board member for ASABE journals.

John T. Perchorowicz, PhD, RTTP

John led the RapidBio Systems Minimum Viable Product prototype instrument development team.

As president of Triage Masters LLC, John consulted for major universities on their technology transfer functions, including developing business models that resulted in successful long-term implementation. As the former Vice President of Business Development for Research Corporation Technologies (RCT), he was responsible for identifying early-stage technology emanating from US and Canadian universities for potential development into products in seed-stage companies, or licensing of intellectual property to third-party developers.

John was the lead scientific member of the Product Opportunity Committee at Calgene, Inc., serving as the primary liaison between science and business and responsible for scientific review of projects emanating from either the R&D or marketing groups. John was also responsible for communication, goal setting and directing of a scientific collaborative relationship with a corporate contractor in the areas of photosynthetic efficiency, oxidative stress and plant transformation, including supervision of their scientists at Calgene.
